What Is the Concept Map?
The Concept Map is an auto-generated interactive node canvas that mirrors your conversation structure in real time. Every message, branch point, and synthesis node appears as a positioned node on the canvas. Edges connect parent messages to their children, and branch forks are represented as diverging paths — giving you a spatial, visual representation of your thinking that updates as you work. You don’t need to build or arrange it manually. Open the Concept Map
Click the Map icon in the main toolbar (top or side navigation bar, depending on your layout). The canvas opens either as a panel alongside your chat or as a full-screen overlay — you can resize or detach it to suit your workflow.

Orient yourself on the canvas
Your current position in the conversation is highlighted. The active node is marked distinctly so you always know where you are within the tree. Nodes are arranged top-to-bottom by default, with branches spreading horizontally from their fork points.

Zoom and pan to explore
Use your scroll wheel (or pinch on trackpad) to zoom in and out. Click and drag on the canvas background to pan across large maps. Zoom all the way out for a bird’s-eye overview, or zoom in to focus on a dense cluster of related nodes.

Jump to any node
Double-click any node on the canvas to jump directly to that point in your chat history. The chat panel scrolls to that exact message, and if the node is on a different branch, Noesis switches your active branch context automatically.

Switch between Session and Global maps
Use the Session / Global toggle at the top of the map panel. Session view shows only the current thread; Global view shows all threads and Spaces you have access to, connected into one unified map.
Auto-Layout for Complex Trees
When your conversation tree becomes deeply nested or has many parallel branches, Noesis’s auto-layout algorithms automatically rearrange nodes to minimize overlaps and maintain visual clarity. You never need to drag nodes into place — the layout recalculates whenever new nodes are added. This is especially useful during long research sessions where dozens of branches might be active.Session Map vs. Global Map

The Global Map is your long-term knowledge graph. Every thread you’ve ever started, every synthesis you’ve run, and every branch you’ve explored is laid out in one connected canvas. Use it when you need to rediscover past work or find unexpected connections between different research areas.
